I have been reloading for 380ACP so I already have lots of 90 grain bullets rolling around, mainly XTP. I use Unique in 45ACP and 380, would like to use it in 9mm also.
But for some reason it seems most people like to use 231 or PowerPistol.
I would like to standardize on as few powders a possible.
Does any one know any good loads for 9x19+ Unique + 90gr bullet?

I like Unique in 9x19, but haven't loaded any lighter than 115gr.

Good idea on the consolidating. Unique is a good choice for that.

I am about 7,000 miles from all my reloading manuals and stuff so a practice test is out of the question. I cant just look it up then weigh out X.Xgr of unique and dump it in a fired case.
Does anyone know if a max or near max load of unique in 9mm with a 90gr bullet will fill the case at least half way up?
I know with 45ACP and 380 it does.
That is one of the main reasons I use unique and load near or at the top of the recommended charge, to eliminate the possibility of double charging a round.

If you loaded Unique halfway in the case you would probably be OK, if you loaded it to the base of a seated 90 Gr JHP, you might be OK, but you would be guessing, and guessing is no way to reload.

And without your manual, scale, etc, you're guessing. I heartily recommend you wait until you are back wherever your reloading equipment is.

I'd strongly suggest not loading anything until you CAN.

I've seen people get internet scoldings just taking charge suggestions from board members, but this is the first where somebody was asked to describe "about how full a case should be" as a basis upon which to create a load. Seriously, at the very least use on those Lee plastic scoops, or make one with a borrowed scale if you insist on loading without one.

do you have the means to measure your charges?
I don't think he's asking about loading without measuring the powder on a scale. I believe he's asking about going straight to a book load without doing a workup and asking for us to provide him with a book load.
EDIT: After reading again, I guess that is what he's asking.

I wouldn't do what you're asking, but I'll entertain the thought. This isn't that much different than using the Lee dippers. I load 5.8 gr behind a 115 gr FMJ, and that nearly fills the case. Alliant has 6.3 gr listed as the max for a 115 gr Gold Dot. In theory, 6.3 gr should be fine behind a 90 gr XTP. I imagine 6.3 grains is very near to the top of a 9x19 case. Somebody could measure that for you. I would, but I don't have any Unique handy right now.

You could also use a 380 case as a scoop. I suspect that would be well inside safe limits.

I have an old RCBS powder measure scale I have been using since about 1998 or 1999 and a power charge dispenser made by Lee that I have had just as long.

If a typical load will fill the case almost all the way to the top I like that.
I am trying to avoid over charging and double charge.
And no I don't need a book load. I have speer 13 and 14 and the newest hornady I bought just before I left and I know they have lots of 9mm loads and I am fairly sure there are 90 and 95gr bullet unique loads in there. I just didn't decide I would stick with 380 bullets and unique until after I left.
