Does any company make an AR-15/M-4 rifle/carbine that is specifically designed to shoot .22LR ammo only? I already know about the conversion kits available for .223 AR-15's that coverts them over to shoot .22LR ammo, but I was wondering if there is one that's built from the inside out to shoot .22LR only? Is there such a thing?

Yes. There are several companies that offer either full guns or complete uppers.

Off the top of my head: Spike's, Tactical Solutions, and CZ all have products available that will fit the bill.

There's also the Armi Jager AP-74. It's built from the ground up as a .22LR, but very closely resembles an AR-15 (much closer than that hideous Armsor-style rifle Handgunner linked to).

Here is a link to the rifle ATW525 mentioned. I had one years ago and I never managed find ammo it liked. Lots of FTF's. It was pretty neat though other than that.

Bushmasters was known for reliability problems IIRC, but spikes and CZ uppers are VERY good. Model 1 Sales works with the same basic design as the Spikes, but with a bit less quality.

As for actually being designed from the inside out just for .22.......most uppers are just coversion kits, converted to wirk with a .22lr specific barrel. I think that S&W's is different, as it didn't appear to use a standard upper, but that is yet to be seen.

I have one from these guys and it's been a great gun, VERY reliable (better prices than most, as well).

There are no quality problems with mine. There are some tool marks on the inside of the receiver, but these have zero impact on .22LR operation. Build quality, finish and accuracy have been first-rate.

there is also a .22 bolt insert that fits into a standard .223... cost a couple hundred bucks.
