An eariler thread reminded me of an question that I had for some time- If I bought a .410 singel shot, can it fire a .45ACP cartridge? Would the bullet fit down an unchoked barrel? and could I do that with any .410 single shot, or is it just specific models?
I don't really know that much about shotguns, and I really don't know where else to ask.

I dont have one, but I think the .45LC /.410 /pistol/shotgun combo barrels are grossly oversize for the shot column.

.45ACP is not likely to work.

There are some guns that will chamber and fire .45 Colt (sometimes called .45 Long Colt) and .410 bore shotgun shells, but not ALL .410 shotguns will do it. The choke on a .410 shotgun that would keep the shot pattern tight would be too tight for a .45LC bullet. Most guns that can fire both are inaccurate with .45LC rounds and they have wide, useless patterns with .410.

If a .45 ACP would fit? in the chamber at all, it would just drop in all the way and stop against the front of the chamber or forcing cone.
Way too far in for the firing pin to reach it.

Since the .45 ACP is a rimless cartridge, there is nothing to stop it from just falling in!
