Last spring I placed a rifle (Winchester 67) in a local large sporting goods store on consignment. I went in there yesterday to retrieve it as we are leaving for the winter and I didnt want to leave it there. Was very dismayed to find that someone had stolen the bolt out of it. Boss wasnt there so I went back in first thing this morning.

"Hi, Jerry, looks like we bought a rifle from you" was his greeting to me as I walked in. He accepted full responsiblity for the problem immediately without me asking, and was very apologetic. He cut me a check for the full amount I would have received had he sold the rifle. He had investigated and found that the bolt had only been missing for a couple of days. He informed me that he has a very good high-definition camera system on the wall that holds his rifles, so we are both gleefully anticipating the police being able to catch this jerk.

Anyway, the store did the right thing and I turned out OK on the situation and would like to put in a plug for the store, Rocky Mountain Sports in Riverton, Wyoming. They are a stand-up outfit and deserve your business if you are in the area.

Did he refund you the price of the bolt, or the whole rifle? Either way, he was very gratuitous. I will keep them in mind if I find my self in Wyoming for some reason.

Sounds like a man of integrity. While he might have just found you another bolt for the rifle, instead he chose to make it good by buying it as if it were whole. That saved you time, trouble and money coming back to the store to pick up the bolt. Wish I were in Wyoming, I'd stop by the store and say "Hi". People like this you don't mind doing business with.

I've stopped in that store and the one in Cody. Both are well managed and very friendly, I've picked up a few small items as I needed them and they seemed well stocked. By the way, they are also the Hallmark greeting products store in town. I like the combination!!!!

It's always refreshing to hear stories about people doing the right thing even though it costs them some green. Too bad more people aren't like that.:)
