Hey all, this is going to be kind of an obscure question, but I'm trying to avoid having to register on a Beretta forum just to ask one question.
Anyway, I've aquired a Beretta 92SB, one of the ones issued to the CSP in the 1980's. Of course, it came with pachmayr wraparound rubber grips that don't suit my tastes, so I found a pair of Beretta factory grips that I believe are from one of the newer models, 92FS/M9 or some such. They look great, but there's a problem. (isn't there always?)
If I tighten the grip screws enough so that the grip panels aren't loose, the screws protrude into the magwell enough to prevent magazine insertion/removal. This is obviously not a thrilling development.
Now... Are my grip screws too long (do pachmayrs come with longer replacement grip screws?) or are my new grip panels too narrow? Anyone have any ideas on a reasonably convienient place to purchase either original 92SB grip panels or possibly shorter grip screws?
I really like the pistol, but if this is going to be one of those situations where the solution to the problem is to leave it in the safe for the next twenty years while I scour the fleamarkets, dusty parts boxes, and gunshop bargain bins of the world, I'll probably trade it in for a newer model.
