Just want to share a phone call I just received from "Glen" at Browning Arms in response to my recent letter regarding their representation that the Buck Mark Field and Target models have adjustable triggers: "Due to litigation problems we are unable to set a trigger lighter...you can bring it to a local gunsmith and see if he can lighten it up for you."

What the heck kind of deal is that? They claim both these models have adjustable triggers, but fail to mention the adjustment can only increase the standard factory setting, not decrease it!

Why would anyone pay a premium price for a handgun advertized with and adjutable trigger if they knew it would only increase the pull???

Sorry for the typo: adjutable= adjustable...time to go take my meds and calm down ;-)

All these lawsuits are making the rest of us have to put up with B.S. like this! If it weren't for stupid people, we could have a pretty decent country.;)

When I think of an adjustable trigger, I assume that it can go lighter as well as heavier.

Well, lets get started... exit visa for firestar please!

Both of my BuckMarks with adjustable triggers (5.5 Target and Silhouette) were not set as light as they would go from the factory.

What's the pull weight of yours at its lightest setting?

Well, it sounds like an adjustable trigger to me.

If it would make you feel better, send your gun to me and I will adjust your trigger to the 'correct factory preset' and send it back to you. Then, you can adjust it back down to the lightest setting.

Problem solved.

My Field model came set at 48oz...the minimum allowed by the screw stop.

I expect a smith can work it over and lighten/smooth it up, but when you pay a premium for and adjustable trigger, and it comes preset at the none- too-light setting of 3 lbs...it feels dishonest.

Tikka, for example, tells you up front how to adjust their triggers, and just how much is allowed (2-4 lbs).

Browning reminds me of our former President arguing over the definition of sex.

CZ ships rifles with a set pull of about 8oz, so obviously not everyone is worried about rabid lawyer attacks.

OTOH, 3lbs isn't bad...

3 lbs is as light as mine will go too... they were set at about 4.5lbs out of the box.

Its plenty light enough for my uses, but I'm just a small game hunter rather than a target shooting competitor.

FWIW
