This may seem strange, but have you ever seen color case hardening methods applied to large sheets of steel? By large, that would be 2' x 3' or 3' x 4'. This would be part of a backsplash fixture in a kitchen. My knowledge of metalwork is pretty shallow, but I'm also wondering if there are some simpler methods of coloring and discoloring steel with a torch to achieve the same look. That would also be applied to steel rods in an overhead pot rack. It would also make a great conversation starter with guests who are gun-shy. Thanks.
