OK guys my research has been going pretty good and you guys have been great, but a couple of more questions on suggestions Ive gotten

Would a hornady LNL die bushing make sense to go on the single stage rcbs rockchucker? Why or why not?

Do I need extra case loading blocks , maybe caliber specific, even if I get one with my kit, again, why or why not?

Again thanks again for all the suggestions you all are making this very enjoyable and not feeling so overwhelmed.

I can think of no good reason the LnL conversion would be a good thing on a single-stage press.

Once the dies are adjusted and the lock-rings locked, you just screw one die out, and screw the other one in.
No further adjustments are ever necessary unless you change bullet brands or seating depth.
It takes less then 30 seconds to change dies once you have adjusted them the first time.

Extra load blocks are always nice to have.

I use them sorting cases, priming a batch ahead of time, throwing powder in 200 cases before seating bullets in all of them, etc.

I usually have some of them setting around with cases in various stages of trimming, priming, etc.

IMHO, you can never have too many loading blocks. :D I make most of mine out of wood, caliber specific. I use a hand priming tool and it's nice to have a couple hundred cases ready for powder and bullets sitting in the loading blocks.

Would a hornady LNL die bushing make sense to go on the single stage rcbs rockchucker?Yes, absolutely it makes sense.

Why or why not?Because it allows you to set your dies once, then very quickly change them out. Much faster than screwing/unscrewing, just twist and click, you're done.

Do I need extra case loading blocks , maybe caliber specific, even if I get one with my kit, again, why or why not?Nah, just get some akro plastic bins for your work in progress. Cheaper and just as effective, plus you can use them if you add a turret or progressive.

Regards,

Dave

plastic bins and load blocks serve 2 different purposes,so both are a good idea, not just one or the other.
ie: I would not prime 200 cases, put them in akro bins, and then put them in load blocks to add powder.I'd just put them in the load blocks.
ymmv,imho etc

I'll take a stab at this one!

Would a hornady LNL die bushing make sense to go on the single stage rcbs rockchucker? Why or why not? No. They are an answer to a question that should never have been asked. You will need to buy one bushing for each die you intend to use from now on. That could get expensive! Then, they've had a lot of problems with tolerances lately, they aren't made very well.

Do I need extra case loading blocks , maybe caliber specific, even if I get one with my kit, again, why or why not?Like was said, you can never have enough! Every time I get a few, they get filled with un-finished loading projects, then I need more!:banghead:

Again thanks again for all the suggestions you all are making this very enjoyable and not feeling so overwhelmed. It's our pleasure to help out new reloaders. You are welcome!

I would not use the LNL lock and load feature on a single stage press, unless thorough testing gave proof it gave better alignment for loaded rounds.

IMHO: Adding another set of male & female threads, even interrupted threads like the LnL uses, cannot add any precision to the die alignment equation.

It might or might not hurt, but it most certainly cannot help.
