I originally asked this first question in another thread, but thought it best to start a new one to avoid trumping the original thread.
I've always wondered, since the AWB has expired, if anyone would do some kinda aftermarket baseplate to convert those UPS 10 rounders to full capacity. Wouldn't matter too much on the 45 (only two extra) but on the smaller calibers, such a critter might be very popular.

Second, since I'm starting a thread on HK Mags, I also wanted to ask if anyone here can clarify an issue from another thread a few months back - the issue of non-existant pre-ban USP45 mags (see http://hkpro.com/hicap.htm). The reason I ask is I am curious if HK started making unmarked 12 round USP45 magazines *after* Sept. 2004, and if so, is there any way to tell them apart from the ones mentioned at HKPro.com. Thx.

You can't convert them. The side holes on the mags don't line-up.
There are no "pre-ban" mags as the 45 USP didn't come out until after the AWB.

Big Bore on HKPRO.com welded 2 10 round USP fulsize 45 mags together to make a 17 round mag, but that's probably more work than you want to do

Right, the link I provided to HKPro.com states that in the first few paragraphs:

There were never any USP45 12 round magazines made intentionally without the Crime Bill markings. While it is possible to insert magazines of the MK23/MK23/0 in the USP45 (not vice versa due to the different floor plates), these magazines are different and should not be interchanged. The feed lips and floor plates are different between the two magazines. Swapping these magazines can reduce the reliability of the weapons when the incorrect magazine is utilized.

Let me clarify what I was asking above. My question is: Has HK manufactured unmarked USP45 12 round magazines since Sept. 2004 after the sunset of the ban? In the prior thread I am referring to, that issue seemed a bit murky and I seem to recall someone saying something along the lines of "there are NO unmarked USP45 magazines." But I would assume that that only refers to those manufactured from the time of introduction until Sept. 2004, *unless* H&K simply is not making 12 rounders any more.

I'm pretty sure the HK 12 round mags that come w/ the current USP45s have no markings on them. I unfortunately live in a 10 round city so I've only got 10 rounders.

What's it matter about the marking? Hicap is hicap.
Basically, what the page at HKPro says is that any unmarked 12 round magazine "that will fit the USP" is a Mk23 magazine and is "stolen US Navy property." BUT, since the date on that page is pre-Sept.'04, I'm assuming that is no longer true and that there are LEGAL UNMARKED 12 rounds USP45 magazines in circulation made after 9-'04. The reason? WELL AFTER 9-'04, I inherited a few such critters, and someone told me that they were illegal. Since it was after the ban, I called *BS* and they showed me the HKPro page as "proof" and said it was because HK wasn't making unmarked mags *after* the sunset of the ban. I still call *BS*, because I don't believe they're gonna pass up an opportunity to make money! But I want to sort thru 'netlore based on that HKPro page to satisfy my own conscience, mainly because the person I got them from was former Navy. However, these are DEFINATELY USP magazines and not Mk23 magazines. Thanks for the info hnk45 and gudel. I will assume now that they are kosher.
