My boy got this deer last year with his rifle. It's his first decent buck. I expect he will start getting into the big ones now that he's got himself on track. I never hunt with him, i drop him and leave, its fend for yourself hunting (also a life lesson). I can hear if he shoots. When i came after him and saw him with this buck there was a faint smell in the air. I suspect he almost dirtied his pants.........

Congratulations to you and your son. Nice buck! I like the approach you're taking with your son. By the results I'd say you're teaching him well.
;)

Nice buck! Your son will remember this experience the rest of his life.

Took my grandson on his first deer hunt this year and he took his first buck with the rifle I built for his dad 44 years ago when he was eight years old. Sure brought back some fond memories for me and the grandson is hooked!:)

Some folks will never understand the values youngsters learn in the field, and you can't help but feel sorry for them.

Regards,
hps

He saw that deer in november phesant hunting on the republican river north of milford lake. he bugged me till i went with;he insisted he had a "plan". Well he did, and i gave him a .280 ruger with a variX on it to show him how pleased i was that he could think for himself and bring a plan to conclusion. You might want to check out that wildlife area if you are close. i liked it. i don't hunt there usually.

Hey J. Garand, I have a stupid question for you. I'm a middle aged guy who has never hunted, (Except once for geese). I had a Massachusetts hunting regulation question for ya, if you know the answer, that would be great.

I can't for the life of me find any firearm references in the fishing and hunting abstract- do you have to hunt with a shotgun, or is it legal to hunt with a small rifle, for, say, red squirrel, crow, and the like?

Thanks,

-James

jamz- i don't know the mass. regs. drawing a streotypical conclusion i would say you are probadly lucky you get to shoot the kennedys geese at all. If your ever at the Armory in springfield just ask for John. Everybody there knows me!:)

I'd call that just a wee bit better than a decent buck. Heck, you're boy done good. I'd sure be proud of him (boy and buck). :D
