There has been some talk of a bill to make people with guns buy insurance. Now i do not suport this but i wonder if they did whay kind of requirements there would be. I mean 90% or better of the gun comunity (100% of the people i know) are responsible and dont get in trouble. So i would assume after insurance companys would get there intial testing done premiums would be low. But my question would be would that insurance pay for your court cost and loss of work. And dr bills and physcologist If you saw one in the event of a shooting that your were found inocent in??

My take on it is that it would be government run insurance. Therefore, it would be similar to a poll tax, because you would be required to pay some amount in order to exercise a constitutional right. I would hope any such law could be sucessfully challenged.

= registration. I highly doubt it would cover anything in those terms. Sounds like they want a prohibitive tax, but know how backed up the system is already.

Yup, buying insurance will keep someone from going ape s** t crazy and shooting up another school! Only in the mind of a Liberal.......

That is what I have been saying about ANY attempt to Force gun owners to register guns at a cost or force gun owners to use an FFL for all transactions. The government should not be able to charge taxes/fees or make ANY requirement on gun owners that would make the citizen pay an amount in order to exercise a constitutional right.

This one is tricky, and actually isn't supported by a lot of actuarial data- making it very hard to insure properly.

The law of large numbers is in effect here.

I too believe that if it became law, this would be applied something like federal flood insurance- but that too, is tricky... federal insurance programs don't provide liability insurance... any firearms insurance would be strictly a liability policy... maybe a little property damage, but all this results from an action by a person- not an event of nature or a health issue.
