A few SIG questions

I recently purchased a used W. German 220, and noticed a few differences from my 226.

Does the 220 have a half cock position, because while using the decocker, the hammer stops farther back than my 226. If I dry fire it, it stops at the slide, but I can pull the trigger half way and the hammer stops in the half cock position with an audible click. Is this normal?

Also, I need to have the slide refinished and SIG only charges $75 to redo it. Which SIG finish is better or should I go ahead and get a teflon finish for $60?

And, does anyone know where to find different colored grip stocks for the 220 or 226? I thought about having the slide on the 220 done in olive drab and adding olive stocks.

Your W German 220 is an older model. The decocking action you describe is normal. They were changed slightly in the 90s. Still a great gun. I also have an older model 220 thats totally reliable and the most accurate 45 I've owned.

The older P220s did have a 'half cock' notch that can be engage if you pull back the hammer slightly if it is in its fully rested position or decock a cocked hammer. the newer P220s did away with this and so are like the P226s now.

All above correct. The half-cock position is due to the non-rebounding hammer. The earlier models had this 'feature.' Also, the earlier SIGs have a sharper hammer compared with the recent production.

The nickle finish is probably the most durable.

Can't add much to the above. The closest to your desired grip I've seen is a Hogue 'lamo camo'. They have pictures on their Web site. I have the rubber finger goove grips on mine and they feel great. Although the Kingswwod sure do look pretty.
