A gift from Finland .

Hey all,
Hope everyone's feeling good.

My brother came to visit last week and it had been over 10 years since I've seen him, he lives in Germany and doesn't get out this way often (we both have small children). He brought me some things he'd picked up for me along his way, the coolest of which is from our ancestral home in Finland . he was able to visit our great grandparents abandoned farmhouse and stayed at the home of a distant cousin. He had fun and got some puukkos along the way, here's the one he got for me -







I thought it was pretty cool and you all might enjoy seeing it. Anyone else want to show some puukkos they've got?

Very nice! I have a few puukkos myself, some of them gifts from my grandparents, who would bring them back whenever they went back to the old country to visit family.

Can't quite tell from the picture -- is it a solid wood handle or stacked?

This one was also a gift, from a Finnish girlfriend of my wife, and also from Kauhava.

Handle is stacked birch bark. Blade is 5 3/4”, overall 10 1/2”. I’ve had it about 40 years.

Pretty. I like the looks of the puukko much better than the mora, though I ain’t ever tried one.
