After a very long wait my RRA NM came in time for me to take it out to the range at Hobbs State Park on my 35th birthday Saturday. My aggravation over not getting an A4 as ordered was over come by the accuracy of the A2 I recieved. I put 50 rounds of Blackhills 68's through it. Being very new the AR platform it took me a few rounds to get the sights dial in and get use to the rifle. I still need a lot of work if I intend on shooting service rifle matches but I didn't do too bad for a first time with an AR-15 and I had a great time and was amazed at the rifles accuracy. A good way to spend a birthday.
One thing that left me curious was that most of the other people at the range were shooting rifles at only 25yds. A couple of guys had AR's, one Mosin, many .22's and a few other misc. centerfire rifles. There were quite a few that came and gone in the five hours that I was there shooting but only one other than myself dared to venture past the 25yd mark. I spent the majority of my time at the 100yd mark even with my .22 rifle. I only moved in because I became tired of walking back and forth and everyone else was at the 25 mark. I just thought it was odd that these guys with centerfire rifles were content to bang away at such a short range. I don't get it. Thankfully, I remembered to take my camera and you guy's get some gratuitous b-day pics.
