Finally got the LR 308 set up with an appropriate scope---

I would have gone with the obligatory NightForce, but they cost more than the rifle and the top turret sticks up so high, I figured I'd knock the thing off walking through a doorway.

Ranging shot fired with the bore sighter setting---

Radway Green with Sierra Match Kings substituted---

Best target of the day, Sierra MKs on R-P cases---

Pasters on this target were my attempt to get FNM surplus to work in this rifle.
I'd say 5/8" is pretty close to the 1/2 MOA capability advertised for this rifle---I only wish I were always capable myself.

Most aggravating target of the day, straight Radway Green FMJ---

I am an unreliable and twitchy component and that's for sure.

Bought the DPMS partly based on comment by a leather-strait-jacket High Power guy who disparaged the rifle because he "needed" a rifle capable of 1/4MOA and 1/2 just wasn't quite good enough.
When my heart quits beating and I can hold 1/4MOA, maybe I'll switch over.

Perhaps it's my eyes; I can't read what's on the paper. Powder?

I have the same setup and my best groups are with IMR 4895.

Ray,
I went and got the notebook off the reloading bench and the rounds for best target were 40 grains of H4895, R-P cases and Sierra 168g BTHPs.

The charge isn't written on the targets, so it's not your eyes.

it cant possibly be DPMS is junk lol. that line of AR 308 rifles are the best priced and very accurate guns. I have the Remington R25 308 with rem barrel and the rest DPMS and the upper and lower are the tightest fitting I ever saw on ANY AR. yours shoots great and mine after sending it back 3 times I shot a little under 1/2 inch

Very nice rifle and very good shooting. I have all good experiences with DPMS as my favorite rifle is a DPMS TAC20. My groups are very comparable to yours. The best part is, the groups are repeatable all day long and most every day.

Very nice shooting krinko! But I have to ask where you saw 1/2 moa advertised for this rifle. I just checked DPMS' site and there wasn't any mention of an accuracy garauntee for this rifle. I used to own one and can attest to its accuracy, I've just never seen an advertisement.

Krinko, I've only shot 150's out of mine although I have plenty of 165's and 168's to try. Thanks!

yzguy,

"Advertised" was perhaps a poor choice of words---the 1/2MOA was brought up by a local Bullethead in the course of the conversation with Mr.1/4MOA & Sons involving this rifle.
So it's anecdotal in nature, now with some evidentiary back-up.

Cool I'm getting a dpms in the next year in 223 556 I like yours!!! What scope do you have on it make model, magnification. Thanks for the report and picks love if!!!!

I don't see the problem with honest feedback, good or bad. I've always liked the results seen on the .308 DPMS rifles. Their accuracy seems quite nice. It will probably be my .308 of choice if I get the bug to step up to an AR-10 platform. Not sure a heavy, semi-auto .308 will have a use in my current location, but still a cool rifle that seems to shoot pretty accurate across the line.
