So i was finally able to get out and test some new .223 & .308 rounds !

(1:7 twist- AR15- 16" )
So far .223 my new load is a
-55GR Hornady FMJ w/ boat tail
-27 Gr. of Varget
-2.215 OAL

---
(.308 Rem 700 VTR 22")
- 168gr SMK
- 43.5 Gr. of Win 748
- 2.815 OAL

Now I am new to rifle... And i honestly can't see the target past 50 yards, idk how you guys shoot 300yrd iron sight... i can barely see bullet holes 20 yards away.

Baring that, my iron sight shots are not tight YET... But the only load that was on target were my 27 gr of vargets.

Thanks guys

I shoot 1000 yards open sights with 40-65 RL 45-70 45-90 black powder cartridge rifles. 300 yards piece of cake even with my rainbow trajectory, as John Wayne said windage and elevation.

27gr of Varget might be a bit warm for best accuracy. My Lyman manual shows 25gr as having best accuracy out of all powders tested.

I don't think you can get enough Varget in a 223 to cause a problem. Actually I don't think I can get a max load in a case.
