A gun every 3.75 months

I was playing around with creating my own database for my firearms. So I was inputting a bunch of information about them, and then did some "reports" from the data.

The figures are a bit skewed because of some guns are my wife's (or at least purchased for her), and then she gave me one for Christmas and then won one at our gunclub banquet the following February.

But I figured out that in the 7 years that I've had my pistol permit, I've acquired a handgun every 3.75 months! Not all of them have been new, but at least one a year has been. And I haven't factored in the new 327 pro series I have on order with S&W.

Maybe my wife has been right that I've been shopping too much, or at least too frequently?

Not a bad rate of acquisition, you've certainly got me beat. I currently only own 9 handguns, 1 shotgun, and 3 rifles.

Question: what is a pistol permit? Is that a CWP, or just a license to own a pistol?

I feel your pain.
I realized last week I'd only bought 2 handguns since January. So I bought 3 more to make up for lost time
I don't buy many new guns. I look for used guns or police trades that are clean. About half of the "used" guns I bought last year didn't even have a mark on the feed ramp. Previous owners loaded the mags but never fired the guns apparently.

In NYS you need a permit to own a handgun, even in your own home.

Usually the permit allows you to carry concealed, though individual judges who "approve" the permit can place restrictions such as hunting only, or hunting/range only on it.

I bought my first gun about a 2 years ago and for a year and a half that seemed to satisfy my gun needs.

However back in late December I got bit by the gun bug and since then I've bought 4 of them (2 revolvers, 1 semi auto and a shotgun) or 1 a month.

That's too much so i've told myself I gotta slow down. I've got one that I'll buy on my birthday in October (ruger redhawk) and then i'm going on a self imposed 2 guns a year (assuming there are guns I want) schedule.

I know after the redhawk i want a pocket pistol .380/light weight snub nosed .38spl. as well as a lever action .357 rifle. Those will have to wait till '09 though.

I only have two handguns (Kimber Custom and Ruger MKIII) two rifles (Weatherby 7mm and Marlin 981) and one shotgun (Mossy 500A)...

Guess I need to catch up... If I could only hit that lottery thing...

I suspect that'll slow down to one a year for a while.

I just thought about it, and since May of 07 I've bought 6 guns. It's a good thing I'm single or I'd be dead man!

The one gun a month law they are trying (unsuccessfully) trying to pass in PA will really cause me a problem. I can't afford one gun a month, my current rate is about a much as my wallet will handle.
