A half-tonne sculpture made out of chopped up guns

Yeah it annoys me that it's a Colt Python rather than a Raven .25

As art goes, we all have our opinions... we didn't grow up in a country facing 16 years of civil unrest like the artist did... but quite frankly, I'm shocked that sculpture made it past British Customs.

If you disregard the politics around it, I like the sculpture. In response to the anti's views on the violence in Africa, I think the Rwandans showed us that genocide can be accomplished without guns. In that case millions were hacked to pieces with machetes. I bet a few of the victims wished they had a gun.

PS. I also thought the part of the article about the hand axes was cool.

Ok, while the medium used to create the sculpture really bothers me, and I think the whole message of the sculpture is the wrong way to go around it :banghead: , That was a pretty cool sculpture of a Tree in that link :D .

Now if the tree of life had a mother shielding here children behind the tree while she was shooting at rebel attackers, I think I could go for the message a little easier. Perhaps Oleg should collaberate with the artist to create a more realistic message for the sculpture :)

England

I could see the fine subjects of England having to do what they did in WW2. Ask for firearms from other countries in preparation for an invasion from Germany. It would be funny to see them try to extract firearms from that statue!

Hello folks.â„¢

Artist Fiel dos Santos says the "Tree of Life" tells people to exhange guns for a new life.

I know. A new life encased in slavery.

Really. :barf:

Such wonderful symbolism in that sculpture, I'm sure it'll change the black heart of many an evil man, forcing them in an overwhelming moment of clarity to lay down their weapon and extend their hand in brotherhood and friendship... Yeah Right.

When it all goes to hell, they (after trying to get us to disarm for YEARS) had better not have the gall to ask for help from us.

If you shoot yourself in the foot and then turn your gun into a sculpture of a tree to make sure it doesn't happen again, DO NOT ask to borrow mine.

Um... wait... :uhoh: Okay. YEAH!
