So I scored this sweet Hi Power (bottom one) along with a Belgian Browning High Power 30-06 and a Citori. Initially, when I was called and told the Hi Power was a Portuguese HP (manufactured in Belgium) I initially thought no thanks... only Belgique for me. Well I'm glad now to have it. In several ways it's prettier than my (top) 1961 all Belgium piece.

Very nice and now I've backed into an adjustable sight HP as well.

Probably, one of the better aspects is that while in exceptionally good condition, it has been shot so I'm past that already.

Thanks for the enlarge. Ya know - so do I (hatin' tiny pics) but I'm not gettin' how to do the monster ones. Any suggestions for the tech impaired? I figured click to enlarge was OK given my electro-backwards nature.

Nope, no off-site photo management yet. I guess it's time to join the 21st Century though. Just making sure this whole internet thing isn't just a fad or that Al Gore doesn't take it all back...:evil:

Nice pistols.

I would however lose those Gawd awful $4 pachmayr grips post haste. You can't be much of a snob with a set of those on anything

WARNING: It is well-known that Browning Hi-Powers are habit-forming: one leads to two, two leads to three, three leads to... SANY0059-2.gif
You have been warned!

Hey Johnny, I know a bit about ancient languages and noticed that your display & arrangement of pistols actually spells out an olde 12th century Mayan phrase. In case you care, it means;

Learn how to focus, or buy a better frickin' camera......:D

Ya know, speakin' of Hi Powers... One that I regret letting get a way - though it turned into a non-import CZ75 - was a brand new "Nato" Hi Power. I haven't seen one since I let mine go, do they still come up? Kinda like chasing that high school memories car, I'd like to get another.

They sold them in the eighties. I think it was 86 that I got mine. There were some mil-spec features which I can't quite recall like lanyard loop, matte finish seems the sights were 3-dot and the grips were a kind of rubberized nylon , ambi-safety and some others that went to the "NATO" designation.

I remember that FN specifically called it the NATO Hi Power as a revisit to a service grade weapons but I'll be damned if I can find another one or specifics regarding the model. i thought it was cool enough to buy one brand new when it tapped a months take home in the Army but not cool enough to keep it when a CZ75 crossed my path 6 months later - now that was sweet in the day!

Very nice guns. I second the motion for new grips. I just put a pair of Hogue wooden grips on my BHP that worked out nicely. I got them from Midway at half the price of the well thought of Spiegels.

My sons and I love to go to the range for a little fun and light competition. They both love to pull out their high dollar 9's and when they do I bring out old faithful who continually puts them in their place. I have had her for many thousand rounds. She is the only 9 I have anymore. Hi powers are one of the simplest and most effective designs there ever has been. I have tweaked mine with a few Cylinder & Slide goodies as well as night sites and custom grips.
