Shooting Investigation

A gunman opens fire, and the man he shot at shoots back, hitting him twice. 23-year-old Deshawn Burgin is in Mission Hospitals with two gunshot wounds. The incident happened at 16 Terraine Lane in Buncombe County just after noon. Deputies say Burgin fired off several rounds outside the home before he entered. That's when detectives say Tracy Owens shot Burgin. No one else was hurt and investigators say Owens will not face charges. Charges are pending for Burgin.

This is in stark contrast to an earlier incident that hits close to home for me. A guy I graduated High School with opened the door to someone he knew, and was shot dead by the him. He left behind a wife and a son.

(Of course THAT shooter didn't announce his intent by firing several shots outside the home before murdering his victim in cold blood... )

I'm glad that this incident turned out differently!
