Rather than an expose on how Glock "rose to the top", it seemed to me that this article described how poorly GG understood what was happening at all of his far flung business units.
Glock "rose to the top" by producing a innovative pistol and aggressively marketing it.
The rest of the article was just corporate/political intrigue.
I did find the part about the 67 year old rubber hammer-wielding hit man funny.

I got the exact same impression.
Glock is a example of being in the right place at the right time with the right product.

Polymers were just being marketed by chemical companies. His first patent on the polymer-stuff was a washing-machine impeller-blade. Then came the 1st military applications; a stealth knife-blade in its own sheath, and the folding, lightweight shovel/pick. And then the very fortunate the open testing of a sidearm by the Austrian Army. The rest, as they say, is history.

Good article. Thanks for the post. Shennanigans aside, I own a good many pistols and only bought my first Glock 2 years ago. I now wonder why I ever bought any of the others. The Glocks have taken over my pistol dept.

Well, when you tell every police department in the US that you can sell them handguns at half the price of the competitor; plan on selling a lot of guns.

I have a Glock and I love it. But it will NEVER replace the P Series Rugers. Better guns for less money, but they are rather big and heavy. The Compact Glocks are better for most carry purposes.
