A Marine's letter to Feinstein.

I sure hope that isn't his real name. He would most certainly be investigated if in fact this DID pass. He openly says he would not follow a law and then gives his name, not a good move.

Perhaps, but what if we all did this? Are they going to arrest umpteen million of us?
 
It's a good letter and I applaud his willingess to stand up and say something instead of talking about retreating to his basement bunker waiting for the black helicopters. Good for him.
 
I think it's time we all did this. I will be typing my own soon. If we all did it and put our names to it, then it becomes more than a single- or few- raving men, but a movement. No More! Just keep it a polite promise of refusal with no threats.

My buddy saw this on FB yesterday morning, and showed it to me. We both admired his willingness to stand up for his beliefs and agreed that it was well written. (We also spent an obligatory 2-3 minutes making fun of the Corps; we're both career Army :p) Seriously, though, we need more people like this in our country.
 
The Senator Feinstein's of this country will read the Marine's letter and see it as more proof of why she needs to take guns away from people. No logic, no reason, no facts seem to ever make a difference to the anti-gun crowd. It is an emotional issue as well as one of control of other people, so why would facts about guns change their minds? As an aside, what kind of weird place is California that it elects, and keeps re-electing Feinstein and Boxer, and chooses Moonbeam Brown as their governor? I guess the same could be said for the state I unfortunately am residing in, Illinois, where the same bunch of crooks keep getting re-elected over and over. Yesterday a bill died in the State senate here, a bill that would have outlawed ALL semi-automatic weapons plus other restrictions, and Mayor Rom Emanuel of Chicago complained that the bill did not go far enough in restricting guns!
 
I saw this letter on Facebook just yesterday. I am sure his initial letter was much longer, but most Marines have problems with multi-syllabic words (obligatory Army/Marine bash). This viral edition was probably the calmest one he could come up with.

The man volunteered to join what is part of the finest fighting force in the world. I think he's up for the challenge.

I think he says he refuses to obey an unlawful order of registering his guns. Shall NOT be infringed.

I retired after 4 years in the Army and was on inactive duty for 8. So creature if the said Marine was on inactive duty or like most of us when we ETS we haven't abandoned the oath we took. Then he still protects us.
 
I retired from the Army after six. Medical retirement. Some of us ruined perfectly good body parts for our country.
 
I took a medical from the Army in 2000. It isn't unheard of. The military can be a hard life and I was a peacetime soldier.
 
An inspiring and well written letter.
I think it said what many of us feel and I'd put my name on it.

It doesn't matter if he is retired. It would still be an honor to share a foxhole with him. At least he has some balls.
 
Capt, I would prefer not to be in a situation that requires a foxhole. But I agree with your sentiment on the man.
 
Unless the poster of the video knows Cpl Boston personally, the viewers comments seemed somewhat disrespectful (nice beard?). Overall it was positive.

However, it is an excellent letter. Until recently I worked as a civilian supporting the USMC and I'm glad to see such eloquence from one of our fighting men. I can't imagine anyone denying the arguments, but unfortunately, I agree with Vito. The Marine's letter is one of the best portrayals explaining the audacity of such attitudes, yet I do believe people take sides on issues like this as though they were shot from an emotional cannon, and only after they cool can they even start to listen to rational arguments.

I was glad to see AOL posted it today in its little news tidbits.

I saw on Youtube today that Feinstein "answered" his letter. Dismissed was more like it, both by the reporter on Yahoo and the Senator. This reporter actually said that the NRA and the Supreme Court have tended to "further the idea" that the second amendment was a safeguard against tyranny, as well as a safeguard against crime. Really? It's pretty plain just from a little bit of reading. It's spelled out pretty plainly.

The Senator (actually, her office, as I'm sure she can't be bothered to address this Marine herself), said that in contravention to his claim, there are "millions of Americans who worry about US society becoming militarized through the expansion of weaponry". What kind of garbage is that? And...wait for it...oh yeah, that has NOTHING to do with protecting our children from killers in schools. It just goes back to the fact that she finds guns "scary", and that she is simply a vulture that is preying politically on the tragedy of Connecticut. That is disgraceful.

I for one, am greatly concerned about the militarization of our local police.

Why does the PD in a town of less than 3,000 need a Bearcat armored car WITH A WEAPON MOUNT ? :cuss:
