I wasn't too sure where to post this, so I though maybe start here and see where it goes. I just thought I would share a rare experience with ya all.

Anyway, one of my Son'sand I decided to go play a round of golf today. Out here is Southern Arizona, many golf courses have a very active presence of wild life, so much so we often find our selves having to wait for them to clear the fairway or greens before we can proceed. We have had coyotes, deer, rabbits, quail, road runners, you name it we've had them up close and very personal. We've stood and watched as hawks and other predators grab rabbits or fish from the water hazards, which is a cool sight. Also the occasional rattle snake. Well today, we were playing at the Quarry Pines, which is the course that Obama and Tiger Woods played not long ago, and what we saw was stunning. A very large bob cat hunting rabbits and little prairie dogs, right in front of us. It had just caught prairie dog and laid within 5' of us while I took my shot on the green. I told my son to watch my back just in case it decided to launch on me, and I had my .357 close at reach too. It was such a special treat to be able to observe such a reclusive and beautiful animal as a bob cat, for such an extended period of time just doing what they do. The player behind us was within several feet of it as well, and he was actually trying to get it to leave by yelling at it and swinging his club at it. It just yawned and laid down and took a nap right after having finished a meal of rabbit and prairie dog.

Now that's a memorable game of golf. Not sure if this will get moved or closed. I hope neither. I've had to "argue" with a few geese when I went to take a second shot that got a little to close to a nest. Thank goodness for free drops. And I have seen does get into a sparing match on #4 green at Ponce De Leon. In Hot Springs Village. Do you carry while playing? How does it affect your swing?

Thats VERY unusual behavior for a bobcat. It makes me wonder if he wasn't ill or diseased. You simply don't get that close to such an animal, let alone have it take a nap within rock throwing range.

Animals that take residence around golf courses become VERY used to humans. It doesn't take long before they realize "golfers" aren't a threat. I used to have a picture of my father teeing of with a few does and a decent buck bedded down about 10 yards from the teebox. We expected them to move when we walked up. They could have cared less. They just laid there chewing their cud.

Not necessarily. We have a bobcat in our area who shows similar behavior. Critters do what they have to ref. adapting to their environment.

Sounds looks you need to start carrying a camera or smartphone as well as your 357.:D Pictures would be fun. Around here we have Coywolves and they are not that friendly. IMHO it is only a matter of time before somebody gets attacked. They are aggressive and a "pack" (4-8) will usually trail you in the shadows when walking on a trail. So unless you have a CCW there are no firearms allowed in Acadia National Park where they are "protected". A snubby.22 MAG revolver is the choice for around here to me. Don't get me started with USNPS policies.:banghead:
