Hello friends... it's me again...;)

the reasson i'm posting this thread is because 1,2,3.

1. you guys are very helpful.
2. THR is a great place to learn about firearms
3. there are a lot of 1911 love here ;)

I'm sure that we all have seen those 9mm vs .45 threads or Glock vs 1911, and i think...well why not both? No! it's not about the .40sw :neener: i got the G17 because i think (and a lot of you too) it's a good 9mm pistol, i love my new Glock-17 and i'm doing very good, accuracy is great, as you can see in this thread. Now i'm looking for a .45 to go with my Glock 17 and nothing better than a 1911 :D, i mean why do a A vs B when you can use AB ;) i'm looking at a Rock Island Tactical, is that a good choice? i don't want it to win a accuracy match or a beauty contest, i just want a 1911 to blast ..45acp at the range and use it at my night stand (all around Pistol)

I don't have one but I have heard a lot of good things about them from a value perspective.

Personally I have a Colt Series 70, MC Operator and WC CQB. However, if I was to buy one just to bang around / truck gun / use the frame for a dedicated .22, I would strongly consider the RIA from what I have read.

I have a RIA and after some initial feeding issues, it works fine. It took a little polishing with a Dremel and Flitz on the feed ramp. For me it is a very accurate pistol at a reasonable price.

IsolationTim, is your's a GI model? Reason- Both of mine (tacticals) came from the factory with polished feed ramps. Both never has had feeding problems. also, were you using 230 gr. FMJ or TMJ? Just a question.

Yes the Tactical and G.I. are the same size. The GI is a bare bones 1911. The Tactical has a few features on it that are nice to have's....In my opinion the Tactical is the better value. I love my RIA Tactical...the ambi-safety I could do without but that is my own minor nitpic. The RIA Tactical is alot of gun for the price. Customer service is the best in the business from what I understand....could not tell you for sure though....I have never needed it!
