anyone have thoughts on kimber vs springfield armory for a compact high quality carry gun in .45 (1911 style)?

I'm sure most everyone will have an thought on this subject.
My thought is I have a Kimber Compact and love it.
I don't have a Springfield but I would like to get one, or most any other 1911.

:scrutiny: Kimber is a much nicer handgun than a basic springfield but you start getting into the higher end models and the differences are less appearant. But I like Kimber better because of the frame width and overall trimming on the basic 1911. :D

No comparison...

Kimber. I have Colt's and a Kimber. No Springers, but I've yet to see a Springer with the same quality as a Kimber.

Ya wanna know the best place to buy a carry pistol? From a buddy that'll be honest regarding the functionality of his used pistol that he's willing to sell.

kimber definitely but...

I would buy a smith over a kimber, and did.

You have to spend a lot on a springer to get something like a baseline kimber. Either way I have just seen too many of both brands fail. Never seen a smith fail.

I've got lots of each. I carry a Kimber Grand Raptor - because it's reliable, accurate and I happen to like the style. My favorite Springer is the TGO2, but the Trophy Match is a close second. The Kimber Team Match is very reliable but just misses out on being top shelf accurate. I used to carry my Kimber CDP Pro II, but decided to move up to a full size steel 1911.

Your milage may vary. Some settling may occur.

I carry my Kimber Ultra Carry II pretty much every day, unless I'm wearing something that requires my snubbie. The Kimber is a great and terrifically accurate 1911, concealable, very nice.

Sig GSR Revolution compact. Niitron or stainless. A little pricy, but a lot of features (novak nite sites/no MIM parts/lanyard point/front grip, mainspring housg stippling) . They had some issues with the first generation GSR, but the new "revolution" seems to be as close to 100% as a 1911 will get. I know mine has been. Plus it is just plain sexy. JMHO.
