Thought I would try reloading for the Mini 30 this Winter and was going to place an order for some bullets. My RCBS dies give me the option of using a .308 or .311 expander. Without slugging the barrel I am led to believe that the barrel is for a .310/.311 bullet. I find a lot of .310 bullets for this gun but only a few offering .311. Am I missing something in that if I used the .311 expander that the .310 bullets would be too small for these loads? Should I buy .310 bullets and use the .308 expander ball? I'm probably overthinking this but wanted to pickup some bullets tomorrow if Green Top has any in stock. Would also be interested in a "favorite" powder for the Mini 30 if you have one. Thanks!

Use the .308 expander and .310 Bullets.

Unless your Mini is an older model with a .308 bore.

Then use the .308 expander and .308 bullets.

.311 and .312 are not X 39 bullets.

.310 is the correct size for a modern Ruger Mini-30.
