I don't think anything short of a MRI machine will generate enough magnetic field to affect a gun, to say nothing of the ammo, which is non-magnetic (if not steel cased).
Seem to recall hearing of a cop that mistakenly wore a 1911 into an MRI room. Took them several weeks to remove the gun from the machine, and it was judged unsafe to shoot afterwards due to crystaline realignment...
Of, course, an MRI is just a tad stronger than the magnet in that purse...
