I have bought and sold quite a few guns on this an a few other forums without a problem... but I have a question. If you purchase a pistol and upon receipt notice significant problems and decide to pass. Upon whom should the original shipping fee lie?

Mike

I think it depends on the description and situation.

If the gun was misrepresented (they said it was perfect and it gets there and has a lot of rust) I feel like the seller should refund all charges.

If the seller said it had holster wear and it gets there with holster wear and you decide you want a prettier gun without holster wear, I feel the shipping cost should be paid by the buyer. The seller told the truth, and you changed your mind.

Lots of pictures help to avoid problems like this.

How about a grip safety that did not work. The aftermarket barrel riding on the link, and them some asthetics. My main problem is if the aftermarket grip saftey will let the hammer drop if you pull the trigger without the safety depressed. I really want to do the right thing but my thinking is the gun was unsafe when I recieved it. The owner claims no knowledge of the grip safety not working but who picks up the shipping in a case like this????

Mike

I'd say waterhouse has nailed it.

If that won't settle the matter, which is to say, if there's a dispute over who claimed what and when, the simple solution would probably be to split the shipping costs.

Well, I first offered to split the shipping. The guy wants all the shipping and transfer fee's. You know I really feel like I am in the right because there are real issues that need to be addressed before this gun could be carried. IE a non functional grip safety. But now I wonder if I should just take my knocks and reimburse him. The sad thing is untill now I have had nothing but good dealings online and I have lost some of the trust I had for people.

Thanks for the imput,
Mike
