a question foy you Taurus owners...

Lots of people knock the Taurus brand; I've had good results. I don't know if they could punch 2" groups at 75 yards, I know I CAN'T punch 2" groups at 75 yards. (Not with a pistol, anyway.)

I've owned the following Taurus handguns: PT92, PT908, PT945, PT145, 431 and 445. (The latter two were wheelguns in .44 Special, a 3" and a 2".) Two 9mms, two .45 ACPs, two .44 Specials. The 908 gave me a touch of "slide bite." I had no complaints about any of the others.

The PT945? I had it at about the same time I had a West German SIG P220, and I sold the P220 and kept the PT945 as I found the Brazilian gun easier to shoot quickly and accurately.

I've sold all of them, but that's no knock against them. I liked and trusted each of those pistols. I'd buy another one; who knows, maybe I'd FINALLY get one of the famous Taurus lemons.

All I can report is my own experience. I do think Taurus shows more imagination and innovation than any two other gun manufactories.

Just got rid of a 24/7 C - I loved everything about that little gun - it was a great size for a ccw, two diff sized mags, never had a failure of any sort, but it wasn't accurate at all in my hands. For me to get close to the center I would have to aim too far to the upper right than I was comfortable with - I adjusted the sights, tried to make it work, but in the end I was not comfortable with the inaccuracy.

I carry a "Raging Bull" 44mag when I'm in the bush. I've never had a moments trouble with it. I would like to put different rear sights on it though. Anyone have any suggestions??

Own both the 9mm and 45cal 24/7 Pros.Over 4000 rounds thru the 9,and around 2500 thru the 45.Both have preformed great!!

I've owned a couple of taurus pistols.

The first was a PT145 and I really liked it, but I would get light primer strikes if I pulled the DAO trigger nice and slow. If I jerked the trigger quickly it would fire every time. Then the tiny, little, pathetic spring that holds the takedown lever in place snapped and let the takedown lever slide out freely. So the pistol would jam unless that lever was held in. This all happened within a couple of days from when I bought it so I took it back and they gave me credit for it towards an XD45 compact.

The next one I owned was a PT140 that worked just fine, I ended up selling it because I really didn't have a use for the .40 short & weak.

I like taurus products and I wouldn't hesitate to use them for hunting or target shooting but I refuse to carry one for self defense when I have several better, more reliable guns.

Hmmm. I bought a new Sig P229. It cracked the slide at 100 rounds. I bought a new HK USP in .45 ACP, it patterned instead of grouped, and needed a new barrel. A new S&W 625-3 failed on the first shot out of the box.

So, I'll follow that logic, and never recommend Sig, HK, and S&W for self-defense, either.

Especially when I have several better, more reliable, Taurus and Ruger guns.

PT145 MilPro

I have a PT145 MilPro. No problems. Great handgun, surprisingly accurate for its size. Also, the relatively low recoil was a big surprise (using WWB 230 Gr. FMJ). The only thing I didn't care for were the Heine 2-dot sights. So, I changed them out for a Wilson Combat 3-dot set. Now, I'm a happy camper.

Ten rounds of .45 ACP (where the heck do they put it??), comfortable recoil, decent accuracy, small size, super reliable (at least mine is)...What's not to like?

I just started using it with a Crossbreed Deluxe Super Tuck IWB. Now there is a good combination.

I have some of the more pricey variants from other labels, but nonetheless I LOVE my Tauruses.

617B2: LOVE this gun. 7-shot .357 Magnum in a small package. 300+ shots without issue.

PT92 AFS: Shoots far better than my Beretta 92. Never a hiccup in 3000+ rounds.

605: .38 I traded in on the 617 .357, shot great, just wanted the .357.

8" Tracker in .22: Great gun, very accurate. I can ring the 10-inch gongs at 115 yards routinely

7.5" .44 Magnum Raging Bull: Accurate and well built, I'd put it against the likes of a comparable factory Smith

My next Taurus will be the PT1911. I have just GOT to see what all this hype is about. From my experiences with other Tauruses, I have a feeling this one is gonna have me writing Kimber a long heartfelt letter.
