It's been a long time coming, lots of reading, learning, deciding on equipment but I just finished reloading my first 100 Rounds. I took the cheap route and just got a lee hand press and the Dies, bullets, brass, powder i need to do 380 auto for my Bursa 380 plus and my Taurus 380 Revolver. I got enough to do 1000 rounds if i got 1000 rounds out of it I Figure id save about 35 cents a round but ill probably wind up getting only around 900 this time with mistakes, waste etc. but still saving over 30 cents a round is good.

Anyway just wanted to share and anyone thinking of starting to reload, I'd be happy to share my experiences.

Russ

welcome to THR Russ and to a great hobby errr I mean addiction. I can stop when ever I want to yeah right Im hopelessly hooked  wait till you get your first actual press.

Trust me, you'll end up getting that 1000 rounds or pretty close to it. Welcome to the forum and a great hobby. Glad to see another fellow Arkansan on here.

Sorry to hear it! Now you're hooked which means more and more expensive equipment. You'll shoot twice as much as before. You'll start getting nervous and depressed when you can't find bullets, powders, and primers in today's market. You'll probably buy dies for calibers you don't even have a firearm for and end up buying more guns just so you can use your dies. You'll spend hours sitting in a quiet room to satisfy your addiction loading more and more ammo which takes hours to load and minutes to shoot. You'll start searching frantically for military ammo cans to store your loads and ammo cans have gotten scarce and expensive. You'll be going around looking for spent brass at the range, digging through grass and weeds trying to find every last fired case. And worse, there is NO cure for your condition! Welcome aboard! Be safe and have fun! By the way, I use Hornady 90 gr. XTP's mostly for my .380 Bersa Thunder with Accurate Arms #2 powder and it performs great. AA#2 is the best powder I've tried in .380.

Reloading is a great hobby and hope you will enjoy it over the years as much as I have.

Welcome to the hobby and THR.

I have found that there is something about reloading that is almost therapeutic. Incredibly addicting, yet rewarding in its own right.

I like loading so much that I need to stop and go to the range more. I have run out of cartridge boxes and am now using baggies with a rubber band to put them in. It really is an addiction for which no cure is wanted or needed.

Russ,

Be careful, you don't wanna load up 1,000 before you hit the range.

What if that load isn't quite right?
Then you have 975+ to take apart.

The way to start - is to start with a low charge weight.
make 10, increase charge by .2 or .3 make ten more

continue this for 3 cycles or so.
Try 'em out & see if they're accurate & pleasant shooting.

This is what the guys mean when they say
"Start low & work up"

Keep working up til you love the round, or hit max loads.
If that doesn't work, try another powder...

Remember - every gun is different, what works in mine, may or may not work in yours.

Welcome to the addiction!

Hondo nailed it. Trial and error will win out and you will end up with top quality loads. A great side effect will be that you shoot more, doing the testing. This will make you a better shot. The down side is you will want to add another gun to the mix, new dies, a tumbler, bullet puller, new press etc. See how much you save reloading! Welcome to the club.

Well I'm a cheap Ass so I don't know about more expensive equipment but I have already come up with some 'have to haves' - hand loader, speed loader, hand deprimer, home made brew for lubricant.
