Michael Morris has made a half dozen knives for me and recently i asked him to make one that was largely of my design. The design itself is nothing new but it is a new style for Michael. It is longer than any he has done so far as well. Michael works in the stock removal method using Nicholson Files. He tempers them to 57-58rc when finished.

This knife has removable scales as well as an extra lanyard hole for lashing the blade to a staff to make an emergency spear. The cutting edge is 6 inches with a sharpened false edge on top. Scales are black canvas micarta.

These are some of the teaser pics he sent me, I will do a complete review when the knife arrives.

It will...we are discussing that tho I would really prefer one of his leather sheathes over kydex.

Here is a tactical filer he made with leather...

Very nice design. The shape of the handle and the blade sort of reminds me of an older Morseth Boot Knife. Look forward to your review.

If I remember correctly Michael started with a 14 inch Nicholson file for this one, normally his larger knives are done with 12 inch files. I specified a 6 inch blade simply because I like the looks of the longer blade, a 5 inch would have worked just as well. I will order a (most likely waxwood) staff to set up as a hiking staff that will be be cut to accept the tang.

So, I'm confused.

Does he use "Nicholson Files" to remove stock, or does he use "Nicholson Files" as the blank?

He uses Nicholson files as his stock material. Much of the work is done with belt sanders.

Here you can see the file surface, he removes most of the cutting surface but leaves enough so there is no doubt as to the blank's origin.

I like the way he left some of the cuts in the surface there so you can see it came from a file. Makes the knife look very unique.

I like your blade. It reminds me of the Randal Jack Crider Special although I believe the steel is thcker on yours.

Well it is here and I am a very happy camper. For now just a few pics and I will do review later, the weather kinda sucks and I need to pick up some one inch manila rope for cutting tests.
