Daniel Defense SPR
Lothar Walther LW50 16" tapered 1in7 twist 5.56 Wylde barrel mid-length gas
Daniel Defense hand match bolt
Daniel Defense 12.0 Lite Rail with Magpul XTM rail panels
Leupold MK4 MR/T 1.5-5x20mm SPR illuminated reticle M2 5.56 Turret for 62gr & 77gr
LaRue Tactical SPR 1.5 QD Mount
PRI front and Troy BUIS
Harris Notch Leg QD Bipod
BO 2 stage Match Lower
Magpul UBR
Ergo Grip

For the SPR type I decided to go with a Daniel Defense SPR Complete Upper 16" tapered 1in7 twist LW50 Lothar Walther barrel with a Wylde chamber, with the excellent Daniel Defense 12.0 lite rail that would not only free float the barrel but would give a generous sight radius and allow for attaching QD bipod farther out as I prefer. I preferred the DD upper to the LaRue equivalent simply because I liked the rail and the reduced weight, which in my hands makes the carbine move and balance better. A Leupold MK4 MR/T 1.5-5x20mm illuminated SPR reticle scope I love the optics clarity but really like the SPR reticule and the M2 BDC turret. I mounted this in the LaRue SPR QD mount simply because has a rep for being the best, less to worry about. For a lower receiver I picked a LMT Defender 2000 with the 2 stage match trigger which allows me to make the most out of the Lothar Walther barrel. I covered the exposed rail with Magpul XTM panels. Troy and PRI BUIS simply because they are of excellent quality and once loctited in place I can forget about them.
While I love the look of the MIAD from Magpul I was never able to get the feel right and after buying one for this rifle I removed it and replaced it with the rubber Ergo grip it just fits my hand better and now I have the Ergo on all my ARs. Lastly I added a Magpul UBR stock and the Vicker's Combat Applications sling. I have only had the stock for about 3 weeks now and I am glad I removed the LMT SOPMOD and went for the UBR it is the best collapsing stock I have tried and it really balances the rifle out.

I am really happy with the way it turned out and the way it performs, it balances well even with the bipod and is amazingly accurate.

The rifle will shoot less than 0.5 MOA with match ammo at 100 yards all day. With the tapered barrel and lite rail balanced by the UBR it handles and points like a light weight carbine. I use it for 3 gun and a varmint rifle.

Colt HBAR
Colt AR6721 16" HBAR 1in9 twist 5.56 NATO barrel carbine length gas
LMT SA Bolt Carrier Group
Daniel Defense 12.0 Lite Rail with Magpul XTM rail panels
EOTech 552
Troy BUIS
Tango Down vertical fore grip
BO 2 stage Match Lower
Magpul UBR
Ergo Grip

With the Colt chrome lining this rifle is my high volume training carbine. Good accuracy, and the 1in9 twist means I have the most flexibility with ammo weights mean so I can run this gun hard at classes and not worry about it. With the heavy barrel and but light red dot is feels very similar to the lighter barreled SPR above, same trigger and stock mean I can switch optics and barely tell the difference.

LMT CQBR
LMT 10.5" 1in7 twist 5.56 NATO barrel
LMT FA Bolt Carrier Group H2 buffer
Daniel Defense 10.0 Lite Rail with Magpul XTM rail panels
EOTech 552
Troy BUIS
Tango Down stubbie vertical fore grip
Surefire X300
BO SBR lower with custom single stage trigger
Magpul UBR
Ergo Grip

This is my trainer and home defense carbine, excellent balance and fast to move between close range target due to the short barrel. This is the only rifle that doesn't feel "front heavy" for my wife. She uses this for the training classes we attend together and I run the Colt HBAR above. Single stage with short reset mean a good bullet hose until I take delivery of my class III M16A1 lower... :what:

I guess I am just really happy with how they have turned out... :)

I hate you...............!.!!!!!!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!!.!.!!

Nice rifles though, but buy some dadgum bolt guns, preferably a Remington 700, and give at least just one to me, it's only one right?:)

Where did you find all those nifty UBR's? Haven't even caught a glimpse of one in stock anywhere for months and months...

Quick question

cameron,

A couple quick questions. Have you found the 1/7 barrels to stabalize the 55gr and below bullets well?

I have a couple 1/7 and 1/9 barrels and haven't had a chance to test them yet.

Also, I would like to hear your shooting impressions between the 2 different gas systems.

Thanks
Jeff

The 1in7 stabilized down to a 52gr Black Hills Match sub MOA, it loves the 77gr SMKs. All barrels are different though so you are still going to have to try yours. The 1in9 has worked with everything from 45-69 good versatile barrel.

There is very little difference between the mid length and the carbine length, sometimes I think I can feel something other times I think it is just my imagination... perhaps the carbine length feels a hair "sharper" but it depends on the BCG full auto versus semi and the buffer weight...
