I was looking in my copy of Combat Arms, pretty good rag for real specific info for various military and potential military weapons, and they have an article on a new full auto shotgun called the Auto Assult-12,. Pretty cool, fires at 300 rps, with a 20 round drum, and according to the makers, it requires no cleaning or lube. they say due to the materials used it gathers a film of carbon from firing the first couple of rounds and everything else just doesn't stick I guess.
but they say they're working on a version that takes 3 inch shells so they can use the new FRAG-12 rounds, some armor piercing, fragments and HE rounds.
and they say it uses a type of reciol system in which the bolt comes to a gradual stop in its rearward travel, instead of coming to an sudden stop like most weapons, so the user only feels 10% of the recoil. I know felt recoil is a subjective matter but regardless it is an interesting idea.
All in all if it does what they say it does, sounds like my kind of toy. very cool.
