AA#7 for .357 mag?

Plenty of load data available on the Accurate Site for that powder.

While AA#7 will work fairly well for the .357 Magnum if you're looking for a full power loads using Accurate powders you will want to look into using AA#9.

The Accurate site shows 9.1-10.1gr with a 158gr SWC. I use a two charges from that range depending on the bullet's construction. You'll need to work up tour own load and find the one that works best with your bullets.

I've printed the whole manual from Accurate. I was just wondering if someone had some loads they wanted to share. Would you compare AA#9 to H110 or 2400?

AA7 in 357 mag

I've used it with 125 HDY XTP, 12.0 grains and it shot very well in my SW 686 - 6" barrel- most accurate load I've come up with so far. Plan to try it with Berrys 125 TP bullets next.

Both H110 and 2400 can give you more speed with the heavier bullets, but I must confess that my deer load is 12grs of AA#9 under a 180 gr Hornady XTP. This is out of a 6" Ruger GP100 and chronos at 1150 fps. I could crank another 100+ fps by going to H110, but this load shoots so good that I don't want to change.

Another user of the 12.0-12.1 gns AA7 under 125 jacketed. With Fed mag primer, extremely accurate.

It works very well for almost-full-power loads. It's about the same as Blue Dot but without all of BD's bad habits.

You will have to look up the load data; my AA#7 is pulldown 9mm powder and runs a little fast, so my data is no good except with this lot number. (glad I bought 16 pounds of it)

AA#7 is more akin to Blue Dot in burn rate and bullet velocity (actually a bit faster velocity wise) without the flash that BD is known for. I have burned quite a bit of it in my SP101 under 125 gr. and 158 gr. JHP's.

My load data is a bit on the warm side so I'll refrain from sharing it (it is a fair bit over current published max.). I just started on a new 8 lb. jug so I have to work up again. I am also currently stocked with Federal primers; not the CCI and Win. primers that my original loads were built on. Federal primers are known to be a bit soft and will show "pressure signs" before CCI or Win. so I have two variables with which to contend. Therefore prudence dictates that I do not share my data and advise you to work with published data and work up accordingly.

Edit to add: One aside, AA#7 is not "peaky" like BlueDot...if you hit pressure signs back down a few tenths. There is also no reason to use magnum primers with this powder.

I load 12.9gr of AA#9 with 180gr XTP/HP in a 2.75" Ruger Sec. Six.

I've loaded Remington 158gr JHP for 357 mag using SPP at 10.2gr of AA#7 the accuracy is outstanding. The Rem 158 jhp seats deeper in the case than say a Hornady xtp or Nosler jhp.

357 mag AA#7

My favorite load is 11.5 gr Accurate #7 with 158 gr JHP. Very accurate. I also lad 13.2 gr of Accurate #7 with 125 gr JHP. Measured velocity is 1150 fps with 158 gr and 1400 fps with 125 gr. This is from a 4" S&W 586, Zero bullets, mixed headstamp brass and Winchester small pistol magnum primers. Very clean and accurate.
