Anyone use aa#7 for 9mm 124/125 gr
target loads ?
I know folks use it for hotter loads
But how about target load bullet will
Be acme 125 gn coated RN
I understand that there is lots of other powder's for this application but aa#7 is available locally ,
Thanks for any shared experience with this

Also I do use aa#7 for my 44 mag
Plinking loads with good results

I have used #7 to replicate Hornady 135gr Critical Defense loads in a Springfield 9x19 XDS with a 3.3" barrel using Xtreme 135 gr plated bullets, it worked very well. The POA and POI was spot on as well as the accuracy and velocity. These were not plinker loads.

I've gone as low as 6.0 grains with #7 and 124/5 grain jacketed bullets. They produce about 1,000 fps from a 5" barrel.

I like aa#7 a lot for 9mm, but any time I try to run it much under max, I get unburnt powder all over everything.

Yeah, load near max.it's more of a push on recoil than a snap.

I have experienced a lot of unburnt powder residue when using AA7 for 9mm target loads.

I use it with 115gr RN on the low end and haven’t experienced any of the downsides others mentioned like unspent powder or excessive dirtiness. Didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to be doing what I was doing, now that I do know, I’ll have all the problems:)

The one time I did a full load workup in 9mm with AA7, I was impressed at how well it worked through the whole charge range. It had low ES and SD even at the lower charges. I don’t remember it being dirty, but just about any powder will burn cleaner at the higher charges.

If it is the only thing available, I would not hesitate to use it.

I've used AA7 but only for 145 gr. cast. It gave very good accuracy and the same POI as my 147 gr. carry ammo. I shot many thousands of rounds loaded slightly under book maximum and did observe a small amount of unburned powder, but in all those handloads never experienced one malfunction.
