It wouldnt' surprise me if MPS Inc. (the maker of the AA-12) did eventually start making a semiautomatic version of the AA-12 for civilian sales. Military and police sales tend to be erratic, and not something that can sustain a firearms company for the long term, especially when a company just makes a specialized niche firearm like the AA-12. Ronnie Barrett has been quoted on several occasions as saying that if it hadn't been for civilian sales of his .50 BMG rifles, he would have gone out of business long ago, because military and police sales alone wouldn't have been able to sustain his company.
