I have the AAC Scarab, the same suppressor except that it has a stainless tube in contrast to the aluminum of the Pilot model. They are supposed to be fairly indistinguishable in sound suppression. I've been very pleased with mine and have used it on a 17-inch barrelled CZ 452 American and on a Walther P22 with a Mark McWillis TROS thread adapter. It is, of course, quieter to shoot the Scarab on the rifle, and I've not noticed any changes in point of impact when the can is on or off the CZ. It has worked well with the Walther also. In fact, it seems only a wee bit louder than my integrally suppressed Ruger from SWR.
I chose the Scarab over the Pilot for one main reason. I am a klutz and can picture myself denting the aluminum tube in some freak accident. Another consideration was my concern for more easily scratching the Pilot's surface.
If I were only going to be using the suppressor on a small pistol, I'd be inclined to go with the Pilot. The lighter weight is appropriate to a pistol such as the P22. Mine is primarily for use on my rifle, though, and the extra weight is not a bother.
