ABC video saying why CCW won't work

That was a good point I hadn't considered, about lives being saved even with an entirely untrained ccw'er as he or she attracts the attention of the shooter. I'll certainly remember that the next time this is brought up.

As for their video "proof", you'd think they'd have learned from the whole Reefer Madness debacle... and the way the drug situation has been mistreated because of that sort of misinformation. They were up in arms over that, but lose all traces of couth when it's time to use that sort of truth-twisting to get what *they* want.

It's not even limited to CCWing saving lives. Anything that can derail a rampage shooter from their primary goal will save lives.

If the argument being presented is specifically "CCW doesn't save lives", then they've already defeated themselves. ABC painted the volunteers as failing the scenario because they received fatal wounds. Maybe they failed to survive, but that distraction undoubtedly bought some additional time for people to escape. That saved lives, and that's the argument they inadvertently proved.

There was no "gunfight at the OK Corral" because none of the six trials resulted in a volunteer shooting a bystander. It cannot be rationally argued that the gunman shot EXTRA bystanders because shooting bystanders was the gunman's primary goal. Even the first kid that couldn't unholster his firearm drew the shooter's attention away from the fleeing crowd.

I'd be willing to put money that some of the higher ups at ABC have NYC carry licenses and that the company is protected by armed guards and off duty police.

Guns for them but not for you.

Every single one of the useless jerks in that "Demand a Plan" piece has either personal security, or lives in a well protected neighborhood.
