I have a SW 929, but that's a competition styled gun with a 6.5" barrel (actually I cut off the extra 1/2" on mine). But I just throw the moon clips at it like Jerry Miculek. Then I pick the moon clip up off the floor, blow it off and put it in the cylinder. it does just drop in though, well unless I bent it when I try to imitate, JM. Extraction is smooth and easy, There is just a little force require to start it but the moon clip just pops right out and falls on the floor, where either I, the Range Officer or the score keeper will step on it. The 929 is a titanium cylinder so it's not quite as smooth as a steel one, but keeping it clean and only firing standard velocity rounds I've had no problem.
All that said, I bet you were looking for something smaller, more in the self defense line. Possibly something without clips? They're always gonna be slightly less reliable and less fun than a moon clip version. For an EDC I'd just stick with a .38/.357 in a revolver. They're made for each other just like 9mm pairs well with an auto and white wine with fish.
I'd bet you're not going to get a lot of first hand responses, well because I don't think small 9mm revolvers are all that popular, so the possible universe of responders is going to be small. may be wrong. frequently am.
