Accuracy results- savage mark 2

Im about to get a savage mark 2 to be my rimfire training rifle. i shoot a savage fcp-k in 308 with an swfa 10x42. im putting a matching scope on the 22. just curious what your accuracy results with different brands and types of ammo. thanks guys!

I have a Savage MkII BV. It shoots 0.3-0.4" groups at 50 yards with a variety match ammo very consistently. I am convinced it would shoot 0.2" to 0.3" with a better trigger - not that it's a bad trigger, but it only goes down to 3# (AccuTrigger) and there is no aftermarket for the rimfire AccuTrigger. I shoot a 6-24x44mm scope with a 1/8MOA dot.

I can't afford the good match ammo, so I shoot the cheap match stuff (like cheap Federal and cheap Aguila match). I have regular flyers which spoil my BR50/50 scores.

I don't have the equipment to accurately measure it but I have shot one sighter group that was in the low teens.

I have a Mk2BV also, it shoots around .4 for 5 round groups at 50 yards, and .8 - 1.4 5 shot groups at 100 yards (1 or 2 out of 5 five shot groups are typically under 1MOA).

CCI SV ammo, bipod on the front, sandbag at the rear. 4-14x40 no-name scope, and a significantly altered AccuTrigger with a <16oz pull weight.

how did you alter your accutrigger to get it so light? and why does the rimfire trigger pull so heavy? my model 10 is breaking at 1.6 pounds

I've got a Savage Mark II BV (Heavy Barrel). Never measured the actual group size, but I've shot 5 shot groups I could cover with a dime at 50 yards with CCI SV. Bipod front and hand rear. It wears a Nikon Prostaff Target EFR 3-9x40.

My MKII FV likes standard velocity match ammo best, as it seems most others' heavy barreled MKII rifles do. CCI SV shoots quite well, Blazer shoots better than its (normal time) price would indicate, but when I move to Wolf Match Target, Fiochi, or Eley Rifle, it starts to do some very impressive bragging groups. Haven't measured them in a while.

Heck, I haven't afforded to shoot it in a while. Kind of sad when .22LR ammo is so ridiculously priced that I can't make myself shoot what's in the old ammo stash.

My Mark II does pretty well with most standard velocity ammo. The real standout though is Win CB match ammo. Impressive groups every time I do my part with these.

Well, I'm the odd shooter out here because I'm not impressed with my Savage Mark II FR-SV....at least up against a CZ452 or even a decently but not greatly improved 10/22 with a bull barrel. Somewhere on here, if you search, I've got accuracy results for all three with several different ammos.

I have a bV and a fv-sr restocked and both with a ammo in the mid priced match grade like wolf & sk both will shoot around 1/2 groups after a few hundred rounds have been fired. RWS r50 and federal untra match will trim those groups by 25%. Its good enought to reduce the few fliers you get. I also have 6-24 scopes on them and there is enought info to be found on youtube to help get the trigger down to 1lb. Not a great trigger but its ok.

Small groups and .22lrs as all ablout the right ammo for your rifle. Even the change of a brands lot number can make a fine shooter average again.

My mkii is way more accurate than I am, especially with aquila subsonics and a suppressor.

My Mark II BTVS will shoot 3/4MOA groups at 100 yards with Eley target/club.

I would go out and buy a Savage today if those results were typical range results in competition. Savages are very good .22's and are capable of those results I think. I am not sure they are what everyone would expect out of the box. But I would like to see more as I looking for my next rimfire. If I am off topic just ignore me.
