I am going to start reloading for my 7mm-08 (savage) at the end of this month. What bullets should I try out? I plan on using this rife to punch holes in paper 90% of the time, and work on my shooting skills, and hunt small whitetails with it for the other 10% of the time. I'm looking for a bullet that shoots great, but is tough enough for deer (I would like to stay away from matchkings etc.). Also, which weight should I use: 120 or 140? I am planning on giving the TSX and the Accubond a try with Varget powder.

Try the 120 gr Nosler Ballistic tip. I haven`t used them myself on deer but have heard they behave very well . Some claim they are tougher then the 140 gr BTs. I have though shot lots of paper with them in my M700 and they are a very accurate bullet with either Varget or 4064.
The 139 gr Hornady SP with Varget has been my go to hunting load for the 708 for quite some time. The bullet has always passed through for me on deer and accuracy is good.

Aside from Varget, what other powders should I give a try? I've heard some good about RL-19. Has anyone tried a RamShot powder in the 7mm-08? I've heard a lot of good about RamShot powders. If I were to use RamShot for the 7mm-08 with 140 grain bullets, which should I use: Hunter or Big Game?

I tried some Ramshot Hunter too. Results were OK and velocity was very good in my gun but not as accurate as the RL19.

Sierra GameKings have been REALLY accurate for me, I can't tell the difference between them and MatchKings inside of 300 yards, probably further. GameKings have always worked well on game too. The only downside to GameKings is with high velocity magnums, if you shoot something up close with really high velocity and catch a major bone the bullet can come apart. That won't be a problem with a 7-08, it won't make those speeds at the muzzle.
