I picked up a pound yesterday for a reasonable price. IMR-4227 with a standard LP primer has been my go to load but I can't seem to find it lately.

Any experience with this stuff using standard primers? I don't have any magnum primers and don't want another flavor if I don't have to.

I'm loading 240 gr plated and jacketed.

Works fine for me with standard primers, it's just not that good of a "magnum" powder as say 296 or 2400 IMO..... the loadings from Accurate have worked fine for me and accuracy is decent.

I use max or near max loads of AA9 (23.0 grains) with 240-grain XTPs. It works well in my Desert Eagle, which enjoys stout loads. I use standard primers also.

Shoots great with 240 Gr jacketed bullets for me with Winchester WLP primers. I am running them at around 1300 FPS from a 5.5" barrel. Nothing hot.

probably my favorite powder for full power 44 mag loads. I come to use nothing but cci350s with it. Ive just seen to much variation in speeds over my chrono with weak primers and have even had squibs with reduced loads using std primers.

AA#9 gives me very similar performance as IMR4227 in .44 mag and uses a similar charge weight. It's burn rate is closer to 2400 tho. I use WLP primers in all my .44mag loads.

My 240 grain data with AA#9, the charge weights are below factory recommendations so I won't post. AA#9 is best at magnum velocities, it shoots well with 240 Lead and JHP in the 44 Magnum.

I do have some 290 LSWC data is you are ever thinking of trying those. The recoil is awesome.
