I have some Hornady 240-gr HP-XTP bullets that I'd like to load with Hodgdon H-110 for .44 Magnum.
The Hornady manual says their loads were developed using the Winchester Large Pistol primer, which according to the Winchester package, is used for both magnum and standard loads.
While I have nothing against Winchester, I already have CCI LP and CCI Magnum LP primers and I'd like to avoid having to stock yet another primer type.
All of my other loads using H-110 powder call for magnum primers and I am under the impression that Hodgdon H-110 powder ignites better with magnum primers anyway.
Should I use the CCI magnum primer in this load or do it by the book and buy some Winchester LP primers? What do you think?
