Accurate ammo for SASS

Gentlemen,

Just acquired something interesting to do; My next challenge is to cook up an accurate ammo for my new rifle.

The weapon is .308 win AR-type with 26 inch 1-12 twist rate heavy Lothar Walther stainless steel barrel. I’m planning to use Hornady 168 gr BTHP match bullets and Vihtavuori powder but this is just for start. (I have plenty of these components, other recepies welcomed)

Any suggestions what would be the optimal muzzle velocity for this bullet? Any experience making handloads for 7,62 AR:s?

You may want to re-title your query,as SASS to a lot of folks means cowboy guns,not AR's.

It's not a semi-auto, but my Remington 700VS shoots very well indeed with those Sierra bullets at 2600fps from my 26" barrel. Hope this helps.

Come on now, ARs aren't SASS legal. .308s are unhealthy for steel targets, too.
