Hi, i use to shoot with my revolver and my load for accurate ammo at 50 yards is 2.8 of bulleyes.
I tried to put it in my model 52 .38 special wadcutter, i can't have an accurate result with these charge, could you please suggest me a load with a bulleyes powder or could you suggest me an accurate load no matter what powder use.
Thank you,
Al

Having shot bullseye matches with many years with my S&W Model 52 pistol. the standard and most accurate load was a 148 gr lead hollow based bullet over 2.7 gr of Bullseye powder. This bullet would be seated flush with the case mouth with just a kiss of crimp. This was done insure that all the flare was removed from the case, normally no crimp would be needed with this light target load. :)

1. Check the weight of the powder charge your powder measure is throwing. You might have the wrong measure in it.

2. Change bullets. And refire..

I've used MANY different powders in the .38spl. The only thing that will match Bullseye for accuracy with charges between 2.5 and 2.9gr with the 148gr wadcutter is "MAYBE" HP-38/Win231.

If the 2.8gr load is not accurate, it's the bullet! or maybe the brass.

Match all your brass, no mixed case head stamps. (I use a lot of Remington with double cannulures from 148gr match). These are a bit thinner than the Winchester or Starline.

Be sure that you are adequately flaring the case necks before seating the bullets. Secondly, crimp just enough to turn the neck into the leading edge of the bullet.

Some of the hollow base wadcutters I've bought had excess lead left in the hollow base. Something like a pig-tail. be sure to scrape these off with your finger-nail, or samll pen-knife. These can cause the bullets to yaw and destabilize at the 50yd mark.

Be sure the bullets are adequately lubricated, too. I usually just tumble lube all the factory wadcutters I buy so that the lube matches what I cast. I use the Lee liquid alox, cut with mineral spirits.
