ACOG on removable on AR carry handle? Repeat zero?

Hello everyone-

I have a 4x ACOG that I have mounted on a 20" A2 Bushmaster. I like the ability to use an optic and then lower my eye to the iron sights. I do not find cheek weld to be a problem.

I would like to know if I can mount the ACOG on a removable A3 handle and be able to repeat zero. I could mount the optic directly to a flattop but I do not like to have an "optics only" rifle.

With the ACOG mounted on a removable handle, I can use on rifle to compete in "irons only" matches. I like the 20" with irons and the optic as well.

I can't answer your qusetion directly, but...

I regularly remove and replace a TA11 on Trijico's TA51 mount, on the flat-top. It returns within about a minute, as long as I put it in the same spot and use about the same torque on the screws.
