I know there probably isn't too much of the problematic '99 batch still sitting
around, but who knows how many people might have a brick of it gathering
dust like I did.

The problem appears to be an excessive --like by a trained elephant-- crimp
of the brass on the bullet cannalure. I discovered this while attempting to
pull the steel-core bullets for re-use in reloading US-made brass. (The pulled
bullets were now worth their price alone for the original cost of the entire
cartridges). I had a small pile of unfired primed Adcom brass afterward and
decided to re-load w/ 55g bullets and re-crimp w/ a 223 crimping die. I had
absolutely no problems shooting this batch --no blown primers, nothing. I
think I could have probably pulled and reloaded the original bullets and ADCOM
brass, but with the proper crimp and had the same good results.

So in the original factory batch it would appear to be bad crimp, rather than
bad primer or primer pocket. Hope that helps anyone out there with it.
