Advanced Pistol Fighting is a true reality based self-defense course which seamlessly integrates unarmed combatives with the use of a pistol. Unlike most other “firearms” courses that only offer solutions if you have a gun on your person, Advanced Pistol Fighting provides students with options for dealing with life threatening situations whether or not you are armed. If you only have “firearms” training and you don’t have your gun on you, what are you going to do? It is not possible to carry everywhere you go; therefore, you need other options available to you.

Advanced Pistol Fighting is not a shooting course. Advanced Pistol Fighting is a FIGHTING course. The focus of this course is all about the FIGHT and not about the use of the gun. Most firearms courses have the mindset that the gun is going to be your salvation and the reality of it is that your handgun is not guaranteed to get the job done.

Advanced Pistol Fighting is a reality based self-defense training program specifically designed for those who have a CCW/CHL license and are serious about learning how to realistically implement their gun into the fight. The majority of firearms training is based upon everything going perfectly when using your weapon to defend yourself. We don’t live in a perfect world so why should your training be based around things going perfectly?

Since approximately 80% of confrontations take place within 6 feet, this is where most of your training time should be spent. All of the scenarios taught in Advanced Pistol Fighting are within 6 feet because statistically speaking this is where you are most likely to be attacked.

Advanced Pistol Fighting is a life altering course and after taking this class you will never be the same.

They start there, end there, or what? Where is this coming from?

We have talked to a number of people at gun shows as well as on PM’s, emails, and on the phone, and one of the most common questions that is asked is how “Advanced” is this course. Simply put, we do not teach you how to “shoot” in this course. You should know the fundamentals of shooting before attending this course.

We WILL review the gun safety rules and we are STRICT on proper gun safety. If you cannot demonstrate proper gun safety DO NOT sign up! For the course in Dayton, OH you must provide a certificate of some sort of basic pistol safety course such as the NRA Basic Pistol course or an equivalent thereof. For those of you who are interested in the Forest, MS course, here is the link to the site for the range we are teaching at there. http://www.shermanhillshootingcenter.com/future.html

You do not need to be an “expert” shot for this course. This course is a FIGHTING course and not a shooting course (there is a difference). All shooting will be done within 10 feet and we will cover drawing from concealment. So, you will need a cover garment.

It seems that a lot of people are intimidated by the word Advanced and are afraid they won’t shoot good enough for this course and look bad. Since the training is outside of the box training, we have found that practically everyone who has gone through the course (which has included competition shooters) is at the same “level” so to speak regardless of their “shooting” experience or prior training. Again, this is about FIGHTING and not shooting. Trust me when I say we won’t make anyone look bad or you won’t look bad! The only reason you would look bad is because you cannot demonstrate proper gun safety. We are here to help you learn how to FIGHT!

Truth of the matter is that we like to try and catch people just after learning the basics of shooting because that way they don’t have a lot of habits from other training to break. It is easier to “mold” someone when they are not “set in their ways”. We find this is true even in the martial arts world. Of course, we welcome people with prior firearms training, so please don’t take that the wrong way.

Here is the link for the FAQ page regarding Advanced Pistol Fighting. I am working on updating it with more things, but for the time being, here it is.

I personally don't think any course can be advanced unless bullets start flying back at ya. You guys use those simulated paint rounds?
