Advantage arms 22lr conversion and minimag ?

Hi there.

I have a question I couldnt get any answer so far. Since the conversion is american, maybe you know better than me.

I am the owner of an Advantage Arms 22lr conversion for my glock 19C , and I was wondering if it was able to take the CCI minimag ammunition..

Is it strong enough ? is it proofed for such an ammo ?

and last question. Do you know if hi cap magazines exist for this conversion ??? I am stuck with 10 rouds capacity.

"Mini Mag" is just a trade name; the ammo is loaded to the same SAAMI pressure specs as any other "high velocity" .22 RF ammo.

I don't know what Swiss/Euro pressure specs might be. I would venture to guess that there exists some parity of standards with SAAMI (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturer's Institute).

Short answer: If your converion unit specifies that it is safe for use with .22LR HS/HV ammo it should handle CCI Mini Mags just fine.

I have the AA conversion for a 19 as well.

Here, Winchester, Remington and Federal sell bulk packs of 22LR HP. They just throw 500-550 rounds loose in a little box. My conversion does not like the standard bulk pack ammo. I have good results with Federal Auto Match which seems to have a different pressure/burn curve. That being said:

There was an orange card inside my conversion package from AA. It warns NOT to use Federal Ammunition or Remington "Thunderbolts."

"Federal ammunition will not work in our conversion kits. Symptoms: Failure to feed, stovepipes, mis-fires and light strikes." The notice continues....

"We strongly recommend Remington "Golden Bullets" as an inexpensive round for everyday practice shooting.

Recommended Brands: 1. CCI Mini Mags 2. Remington "Golden Bullets" 3. Most any other 40 grain "Heigh Velocity" ammo.

40 grain solid bullets perform better than Hollow Points."

That is the way I read it.

Oh, and I am not aware of any higher capacity magazines. This is kind of a niche product and AA doesn't offer them. I wish the follower had a pip so you could compress the spring in the magazine to simplify loading like most ordinary 22 semi autos.

I talked to Advantage Arms and they said they will not maker hi-cap mags because they are located in California, where hi cap mags are restricted. You can modify the existing mags if you have the newer version, but you only get 14 rnds and it is not as reliable in the modified configuration. You're better off just getting a few extra magazines.

ya, maybe i'll take some extra mags.

I am really looking forward to using minimag inside it... So far, for more than a year, I have been shooting only CCI standard.

Mini mags are a regular high velocity load. The Stinger by CCI, a HYPER velocity load with a non standard case length may or may not cause problems. Aguila and Remington also make Hyper velocity loads.

There is guns out there that should not be fired with Stingers. Heck theres .22lr firearms that should not be fired with high velocity ammo.

I own an old Italian 4 barrel derringer by USI that says on side of gun to only use standard velocity ammo.
