Folks, a friend of mine has a Romanian AK 47, I believe an SAR-1, and wants to purchase a folding stock for it. Does anyone have any advice as to what works, fits well, feels good? It has the standard wooden stock on it right now. Any help is GREATLY appreciated, thanks!

here are a lot of places out there and different styles of folding stocks.
Here is a complete set from tacticalgears.com

I went with the T-6 stock on mine.

I personally like the Romanian / East German wire folding stocks like the second one TIMC has pictured. It doesn't work as well if you're trying to use an optic, but it's fine for the open sights. It's simple to use / install, and doesn't require any modification to a SAR1. Just make sure you play the 10 or less parts game elsewhere and you're a legal eagle.

I've looked at the ACE folding stocks for awhile but I could never pull the trigger on one. People who have them generally give an opinion that they are well made, though.

Will the wire folder prevent one from using a scope? If I recall correctly ( and the older I get the less I recall) he used some type of a Russian 4x scope with this AK that mounted to the side. Will the wire folder not work with those scopes? Thanks again, Matt

Will the wire folder prevent one from using a scope?

I'm pretty sure I have a Romy folder, and mine folds to the right so it doesn't bump the scope/mount. Makes it a little harder to get a grip on the charging handle but it can still be done.
